Fuelled by a relentless pursuit of perfection, he gathered inspiration everywhere ?V from the exotic Eastern spices unloading on the docklands of London to his journeys to the far corners of Europe.
 
At times, however, inspiration would come from a source closer to home. In his notes from 1839 Tanqueray find Lovage ?Va recipe showcasing a balanced and savoury flavour derived from finer local English ingredients.
